How Does the Snow Day Calculator Work?
Our snow day predictor uses a weighted probability algorithm based on the key factors that school superintendents and transportation directors evaluate when deciding to cancel school. Each factor contributes a different weight to the final probability:

Will There Be a Snow Day Tomorrow?
The most common question we get is simply: will there be a snow day tomorrow? The answer depends on your specific conditions. Enter your forecast data above for a personalized prediction. As a general guide:
High probability (70%+): 6+ inches expected overnight into morning, temperatures below 20°F, wind gusts over 25 mph, or any ice storm. Southern states: 2+ inches.
Medium probability (40–69%): 4–6 inches expected, moderate cold, snow arriving during evening commute. Timing matters enormously — snow clearing out by midnight drops your chances significantly.
Low probability (under 40%): 1–3 inches, above 28°F, snow falling during the day or early evening (roads treated overnight), Northeast or Snow Belt region.
