Name list randomizer
Shuffle a presentation order, choose a name or assign classmates to groups. Paste names as separate lines and check for duplicates before drawing.
Shuffle names, numbers or words. Pick random entries, make balanced groups, pair two lists or spin a wheel — free and without an account.
This online random list generator works with the entries you supply. It can reorder a name list, organize a playlist, select a word or randomize a list of numbers. It preserves each entry as text, including leading zeroes in values such as 001.
Shuffle a presentation order, choose a name or assign classmates to groups. Paste names as separate lines and check for duplicates before drawing.
Randomize your own numbers, vocabulary words or song titles. The tool rearranges or selects your entries; it does not invent a new vocabulary or name list.
Turn a custom list into a random order, pick several entries, or match two lists. Copy and TXT download retain the full result.
Choose Pick to select one or more random entries. Without replacement, each input entry can be selected at most once in that draw. With replacement, an entry goes back into the pool after each pick, so it can appear more than once.
For example, a five-entry list can produce three picks without replacement. Selecting six picks requires replacement. If the same name appears twice in your input, those lines are two separate entries unless you enable Remove identical duplicates.
Use Groups for a class list randomizer, study groups or team assignments. Enter the number of groups or a maximum group size. The tool shuffles the entries, then distributes them into balanced groups by count.
With seven entries and three groups, the group sizes are 3, 2 and 2. Every entry appears once. A maximum group size of three also produces three balanced groups for seven entries. This distributes people randomly; it does not evaluate their abilities or preferences.
Choose Two lists to match entries from List A with entries from List B. Each list is shuffled independently, then entries are paired in order. This can match participants to tasks, students to topics or names to colors.
If the lists have different lengths, every possible pair is shown and the extra entries are listed as unpaired. For example, five entries in List A and three in List B produce three pairs and two unpaired entries from List A.
Paste up to 100 entries, choose Wheel and spin to select one. Each entry occupies an equal segment. For longer labels, the drawing may shorten the label; the result and the entry list retain the full text. For more than 25 entries, segments display entry numbers.
The selected index comes from the browser's random source. The animation displays that selection and does not change its probability. Every new spin uses the current full list, so an entry can win again. Reduced-motion settings skip the spinning animation and show the result directly.
The shuffle uses the Fisher–Yates algorithm: starting at the end, it swaps each entry with a randomly selected position from the remaining range. The browser's crypto.getRandomValues() supplies random values, and rejection sampling avoids bias when converting them to bounded indexes.
A shuffle can occasionally return the same order you entered, especially with a short list. That is a possible random outcome. The tool does not force a different order, and it does not fall back to Math.random() if the required random source is unavailable.
